Tummy time
Tummy time is the key to your baby achieving their milestones like rolling, crawling and eventually walking. Encourage movement by placing your baby face down over your thigh or on the floor. To encourage your baby to move and stretch, hold an object at his/her eye level but a short distance away. This will encourage your baby to fully straighten their arms and try to reach out for the toy.
Encourage short bouts of free floor play to enable your baby to feel the ground under them and explore the movement of their developing body.
All babies and children develop at their own rate but if you have concerns a child is not meeting their milestones, please speak to your Health Visitor.
Tummy time provides opportunities for...
Backwards and forwards movements promotes movements of the arms and legs, developing neck and head control as well as core strength (tummy and back muscles) and balance.
These help a baby to hold up their head and begin to roll over.
